The Bug

THE BUG presents 'SIRENS': A Symphony for Foghorn, Bass Drone, Siren and Loud Volume

London premiere for an intensely personal new work by Kevin Martin aka The Bug that blurs the boundaries between live performance and immersive installation. This extended 40 minute piece was originally commissioned to accompany Nik Nowak's exhibition at Berlin's prestigious Berlinische Galerie. A world away from The Bug’s trademark club warfare, yet still reflecting Martin’s ongoing obsession with deep space/bass probes and invasive frequency washes, 'Sirens' was originally devised as a therapeutic response to critical operations his newborn son had recently endured. The result is a durational avalanche of sound, light and physical sensation, building from the quietest whisper to the most deafening roar.

The Night Museum

The Museum of London will open up its doors after hours for a specially curated evening exploring the dark and lost borders of music, sound, art and film. Featuring work from visual and conceptual artists including Yuri Suzuki, Sarah Angliss, School of Noise, Nick Luscombe and Chris Shen, the one-off event will also see acclaimed producer Forest Swords present the debut performance of new contemporary dance piece Shrine, and London experimental musician Cosmo Sheldrake will play a new set incorporating elements from the Museum of London's sound archive. More musical performances will be revealed shortly. This event is free and open to all.

A unique evening of music performed in complete pitch black darkness. For Blackout audiences, the sensory distortion of total darkness forces a complete focus on the subtleties of sound. For the artists, absolute anonymity creates an opportunity to perform and experiment free from expectations and preconceptions. For all involved in Blackout, it will be an entirely unusual and immersive live music experience.
